Forehead Augmentation Pain, What to Expect If You Are Worried About It
Whichever method is used, forehead surgery or forehead augmentation needs an incision, which may cause pain. For forehead surgery, doctors usually use a local anaesthetic or a general anaesthetic (at the surgeon’s discretion) to reduce the pain you would otherwise feel.
However, after forehead augmentation, some people may still have pain and swelling, which gradually eases within 7 to 14 days. Any bruising gradually fades within 2 to 3 weeks (depending on each person’s body).
How Much Pain Is There With Forehead Augmentation?
Some pain and aching with surgery cannot be avoided, but it gradually improves, and the doctor’s technique helps. Some people may feel only a dull ache for a short time (the first 1 to 3 days). The doctors at S45 Clinic use current medical technology and plan each step of forehead augmentation carefully.
If you have pain or tightness, the doctor will give you pain relief medication to ease it first. The surgeons at S45 Clinic handle the tissue gently at every step, which helps limit tissue trauma, and the incision is small and hidden along the hairline.
At S45 Clinic, forehead augmentation is done under a general anaesthetic, with one-to-one care from an anaesthetist. Prepare before surgery as follows:
Preparing for Forehead Augmentation Surgery
- Have pre-surgery health checks, such as CBC, BUN, electrolytes, HIV, PT, ECG and a chest X-ray.
- Tell the doctor about any medical conditions, regular medicines, drug allergies and supplements, including herbal medicines and vitamins you take regularly. If you have a condition such as high blood pressure or diabetes, it must be well controlled before surgery.
- Tell the doctor if you smoke, use herbal medicines or drink alcohol.
- Tell the doctor about all previous surgery, including implants and any liquid injections, in full detail, to help with diagnosis and further treatment.
- Do not eat or drink for at least 6 to 8 hours before surgery.
- Stop using skin treatments or products that speed up skin cell turnover, such as tretinoin (Retin-A), retinols, retinoids, glycolic acid and all anti-ageing creams or treatments, for about 3 days.
- Avoid skin treatments, scrubs, exfoliation, shaving and hair removal for about 3 days before your procedure.
- If you are pregnant, tell us.
*If you have a blood disorder, heart disease, lung disease, cancer or an endocrine (hormone) disorder, you must consult a doctor before treatment.*

Benefits of Silicone Forehead Augmentation at S45 Clinic
For forehead augmentation, S45 Clinic uses the 4D CT FIT technique. The silicone implant is designed one-to-one for each person, based on the proportions of your forehead from a CT scan. The implant size is precise and suited to you, because it is cast from the proportions of your own skull at the forehead, and the silicone implant is made to order in Korea.
What 4D CT Fit Forehead Augmentation Offers
- It adds fullness to the forehead in proportion with your whole face, for more definition.
- It can help with a flat, narrow, sunken or uneven forehead.
- The implant is placed under the periosteum (the membrane covering the bone), which lowers the chance of the silicone implant moving.
- The incision is hidden along your hairline.
- It is designed to keep its proportions and last a long time, with a lower chance of sinking or denting, and the shape is less likely to change if your weight goes up or down.
- Surgery is performed by an experienced doctor.
**Results depend on each person’s underlying bone structure.**
