What to Know Before Breast Augmentation

- Know your concerns and what you want. Most people who want breast augmentation are concerned about size or breasts that are wide apart, and mothers who have breastfed often have sagging or uneven breasts, or a shape they do not like. Start by being clear about the problem and what you want to change.
- Look at the cause. Once you know the problem, think about what is causing it. If it may be caused by a physical problem, such as a lump in the breast, have it checked and treated by a doctor first.
- Learn about the types of silicone implant. Breast augmentation places silicone implants in the body, and there are many brands and types, so research them well. Implants on the market differ in:
- what they are filled with, either silicone gel or saline
- the surface, either smooth or textured
- the shape, such as round or teardrop
- Choose a size that suits your body. An implant that is too large can affect your body in the future, especially through back pain or capsular contracture, and some people may lose sensation in the nipple. Discuss this with your surgeon at your consultation and ask for advice. If the surgeon recommends a smaller size than you want, think about how you would deal with side effects if they happen later.
- Incision position. At your consultation, ask your surgeon whether the incision will be in the armpit, in the fold under the breast or around the areola. Each position also depends on the surgeon’s skill and experience.
- The reliability and standards of the surgeon and the clinic. This is a very important point to consider.

At S45 Clinic, breast augmentation is done by experienced surgeons, including revision breast surgery, sagging breasts, and making breasts smaller or larger to suit each person. The surgeon considers your body and your daily life when planning the result, with a focus on lowering risks.
How to Prepare for Breast Augmentation

Before breast surgery, follow these steps carefully:
- Have a thorough health check, or follow your doctor’s advice. Breast augmentation needs general anaesthetic given by an anaesthetist, so it is important to make sure you do not have a health condition that puts you at risk from general anaesthetic or the surgery.
- Do not eat or drink for 12 hours before surgery.
- Avoid having breast augmentation during your period.
- Stop drinking alcohol and smoking for at least 1 week before surgery.
- Stop taking vitamins and dietary supplements. If you take regular medicines, tell your doctor and ask whether to keep taking them or stop.
Aftercare After Breast Surgery

- S45 Clinic uses the Seamless technique, where the wound is closed with glue, so you do not need stitches removed and there is no drain. You can also shower straight away after breast surgery, which makes aftercare easier.
- Massage your breasts regularly to help the implants settle and keep the breasts soft.
- Avoid lifting heavy things and exercising for at least 1 month, or as your doctor advises.
- Do not wear underwired bras.
- Do not drink alcohol for at least 2 weeks.
- Sleep on your back or side, and avoid sleeping on your front.

Choosing implants that meet standards and having surgery with an experienced surgeon can help your breast augmentation last a long time, may lower the chance of bruising in some cases and can make aftercare easier. Results depend on each person.
