Multiple Rhinoplasty Risks, the Effects of Reshaping Your Nose Too Often
Frequent nose reshaping, whether because you personally do not like the shape of an earlier rhinoplasty or even because of a health problem, can affect your daily life. Reshaping your nose too often may also affect your physical health. So before rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, think carefully about the possible problems and side effects as well.
What Are the Effects of Frequent Revision Rhinoplasty
Having revision rhinoplasty too often can irritate and inflame the lining inside the nose, making it thinner. This can inflame the many small blood vessels in the nose, which can then become sore and infected more easily. This can cause nosebleeds from a thin, sore area on the front of the septum, which can become a long-term problem. It can also lead to sinusitis or infection inside the nose, and if left untreated for a long time, these symptoms can spread and cause many other health problems.

It is not only your health that can be affected. Frequent revision rhinoplasty can also lower your confidence and leave you feeling less self-assured than you would like. This can cause anxiety, and some people may not want to socialise or may even become afraid of social situations.
What Complications Can Frequent Revision Rhinoplasty Cause
- infection and inflammation
- movement of the silicone implant or other implant material
- silicone implant extrusion (the implant pushing through the skin)
- a crooked nose
- blocked breathing and snoring
So before rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, take time to consider everything carefully. Look for accurate information and have a consultation with a surgeon. Ask in detail about the steps and methods of rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, and about your health and the structure of your nose, so the surgeon can explain the correction clearly and you both understand the plan. This also includes aftercare after rhinoplasty. If you are having revision rhinoplasty, the structure and tissue of the nose are thinner, so take extra care and follow your surgeon’s advice closely until your new nose has settled and healed, to lower the chance of inflammation and infection.

Self-Care After Revision Rhinoplasty

- Avoid touching your nose and the wound. If you cannot avoid it, touch gently and make sure your hands are clean, to lower the chance of infection.
- Clean the wound gently, using a cotton ball soaked in saline and dabbing as gently as you can.
- Get enough rest and sleep, so your body can repair itself and recover.
- Drink enough clean water, at least 7 to 8 glasses a day, to keep the lining of your nose moist and reduce hardened mucus inside the nose.
- Avoid very dusty places, such as smoking areas and building sites. Dust can make the wound dirty and build up inside the nose, causing irritation, sneezing and more mucus. This means sneezing or cleaning your nose more often, which can make the wound inflamed or infected more easily.
Which Problems After Revision Rhinoplasty Need a Doctor
- a nosebleed that does not stop
- a wound on the nose that has not healed 14 to 30 days after revision rhinoplasty
- green or yellow mucus that keeps coming out for more than 30 days
- a severe headache with pain in the cheeks
- a very strong bad smell
Revision rhinoplasty may seem like a minor procedure you can have whenever you are unhappy with the shape of your nose. But having it too often can affect your physical and mental health in many ways, and each revision adds to the cost. Preventing problems before they need fixing, by carefully choosing a rhinoplasty clinic or hospital and an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who designs a shape you like that suits your face, can help lower the risks and effects that may happen.
How Much Does Revision Rhinoplasty Cost
The price depends on the problem, how complex the surgery is and the surgeon’s experience. In general, revision rhinoplasty costs THB 200,000 or more. If you have had several revisions, there may be additional costs of THB 150,000 to THB 300,000. Have a consultation with a surgeon to get advice and find out the cost for your case.

Note: Repeat nose surgery, which many people know as ‘nose reshaping’, is surgery for people who have had nose surgery before and want a further assessment by a surgeon. The approach to care depends on the original problem, the nasal structure and the surgeon’s judgement in each case.
