Although it is very rare (about 1 in 10,000 to 50,000 cases), it is a critical condition that needs urgent treatment.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If I Have a Risk of Malignant Hyperthermia (MH), Can I Still Have Plastic Surgery?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people worry that if they are at risk or have a family history of this reaction to anaesthetic drugs, they can never have surgery again. Medically, you can still have surgery as usual, but you must tell the doctor in advance so trigger drugs can be avoided and a more suitable method of anaesthesia chosen, such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Local anaesthesia:<\/strong> such as lidocaine, which does not trigger MH.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA):<\/strong> putting you to sleep with medicine injected into a vein instead of an inhaled anaesthetic gas, which is an option suited to people at risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3 Main Factors That May Cause a Lack of Oxygen During Surgery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The anaesthetist at S45 Clinic explains the medical possibilities that may cause a lack of oxygen during a general anaesthetic, as follows:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Sedation that is too deep:<\/strong> sedation means giving sleeping medicine to help the patient feel less anxious. But if the patient is put into too deep a sleep, it may suppress breathing, so the patient does not breathe enough and is at risk of a lack of oxygen.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.
